In one class session, learn how to embellish a drilled focal glass or stone bead by creating a woven wire frame. Take home your personal creation. Instructor is Nancy Kendall, whose work is on display at the apothecary. All supplies and tools provided. $45 per class

Celtic people observe both lunar and solar cycles of time. Each solar  year has a bright and a dark half and begins with a traditional lunar holiday, from which the character of the season flows. Activities needed to make the most of the natural ebbs and flows of a year have become tradition.

Explore these seasonal activities, the meaning and purpose behind them. Discover ways to utilize each of these cultural tools in times of need and joy.

We’ll enjoy the music, poetry, songs, herbs and foods of these seasonal holidays and take home seasonal crafts we’ll make.Experience the structure and flow of this nature mysticism tradition, attain new skills in bonding with Nature to make a life lived sacred.

Living Sacred Tree Ogham, the Secret Language of Poets ~ Instructor Heather Nic an Fhleisdeir

Ogham or Ogam (pronounced ‘oh-am’) is the ancient writing system found mostly in Ireland, but also seen in Britain, on the Isle of Man, in Scotland and in Wales. Thought to date from at least 300 to 400CE, some scholars place it closer to 100CE.

Learn the  names and meanings of each ogham letter,  the trees that are represented by each letter and how each is utilized for healing properties, for building, making tools and dyes, for food, landscaping, in symbology, divination, in ceremonies and in stories.

Make a house charm of ogham using your own name and a custom amulet for yourself out of material from the ogham trees. Enjoy foods and drinks made from the ogham trees as well.

Regular rhythms of Earth’s only natural satellite, the moon, have guided timekeepers and mystics for centuries. Its influence has been long charted by Celtic culture throughout the ages.  This knowledge of the moon is still utilized to this day, to keep all life rhythmic and healthy.

Explore the effects of the moon on the biological rhythms of humans, animals and plants and the lunar tradition in caring for ourselves and for our gardens. Learn where science and mysticism merge in the study of this ancient practice. We’ll make full moon waters, lunar phase teas, and lunation calendars. Using lunar rhythms for health, healing, herbal planting, harvesting and other daily lifeways, discover advantageous methods for scheduling important life events, building projects, timing for planting, influencing the outcomes of a harvest, when to preserve foods and to extract herbs.

Ancient Celtic culture used a distinct herbal tradition. Old ways, that understand that not all illness and disease begin in the body, and so the source of the beginning needs to be found and cared for. Quietly, this tradition continues to this day.

Beyond their uses as physical medicine, herbs can be understood and utilized on a personal, mystical, sacred energetic level. Learn a set of the most versatile herbs for these purposes and several ways to use them. We’ll make elixirs, steams, fomentations and incense. Discover a method to interpret meanings around herb uses found in old manuscripts, charms, stories and songs. Explore ways to reveal original causes of whole-person health imbalances and methods to rebalance, which then restores health, in a way almost unseen.
